The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire volleyball team concluded the 11th annual Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament presented by BSN Sports on Saturday with their lone game against St. Catherine University. Despite dropping the opening set, the Blugolds stormed back with a consistent attack to defeat the Wildcats, 3-1.

Mya Cinnamo led the attack on the evening with 16 kills and added 18 digs for her third double-double of the season. Cinnamo also led the team with three service aces that all came in the opening set as UWEC battled from an 18-21 deficit.

After dropping set one, Eau Claire was consistent with their attack, hitting above 31% in their three sets wins. Hanne Johnson and Darienne Andre combined for 25 kills to help power the Blugold offense to their sixth straight victory.

Defensively, Kaitlyn Erickson grabbed 25 digs during the four sets and limited reception errors to two of the 22 serves she received.

The dynamic setting duo of Ella Kiebel and Hannah Thole combined for 53 assists during the 3-1 victory to help keep the offense in check.

The Blugolds (8-3-0) will begin Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Wednesday, September 18th with a trip to UW-Stevens Point. First serve from Shirley Egner Court at Berg Gym is scheduled for 7 p.m.
