The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team competed over the weekend at the Minnesota Golf Classic, hosted by Bethel University at Pioneer Creek Golf Course in Maple Plain, Minnesota. The Blugolds' top team secured second place out of 15 teams, with Nick Amtmann (Sr. – Nashotah, Wis.) tying for 10th individually.
Nick Amtmann delivered consistent performance throughout the weekend, achieving two rounds of 70 strokes and a round of 78, concluding the three-round event at +11. Owen Covey (Sr. – New Richmond, Wis.) also performed well, tying for 15th overall with an even-par 68 to start the tournament.
The Eau Claire team finished just one stroke behind Bethel University, which won the event. UW-Eau Claire's B team placed fifth out of the 15 teams competing. Notable performances included Nick Mueller (So. – Baldwin, Wis.) and Alec Sosnowski (Verona, Wis.), who both secured top-40 finishes.
The Blugolds will next host their annual Frank Wrigglesworth tournament on Sunday, September 15th. The two-day event is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club.
