The Universities of Wisconsin System Board of Regents has approved a lease for Mayo Clinic Health System to occupy integrated research workspace in the new Science and Health Sciences Building at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Regents on Monday approved the 30-year lease of 10,000 square feet of research, instructional, office and meeting space in the building to be occupied by Mayo Clinic Health System. Mayo Clinic Health System has committed $13.7 million to the project and will have space on all five floors of the building that will be integrated into the UW-Eau Claire faculty and student spaces.
The 330,000-square-foot Science and Health Sciences Building will replace the outdated Phillips Hall and will house space for multiple academic programs. Dr. Richard Helmers, regional vice president for Mayo Clinic Health System in Wisconsin, and Dr. Tim Nelson, director of innovation for Mayo Clinic Health System Northwest Wisconsin, will receive honorary doctorates of science.
UW-Eau Claire is the recipient of the 2024 AAG Award for Bachelor Program Excellence, recognizing excellence in geography programs at U.S. colleges and universities. The recipients of the UW-Eau Claire awards were honored at a March 4 reception.
