In a recent report, Career Services Director Bryan Barts highlighted the impact of graduates from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, stating, "This year’s report points again to the clear and distinct impact that Stout graduates are making and the value that companies, locally and regionally, place on the polytechnic education that Stout provides."

The report revealed that graduates from fall 2022 through summer 2023 experienced a record average starting salary of $58,000, the highest among higher education institutions in west-central Wisconsin. The average starting salary has seen a significant increase of $8,500 in the last three years, with a $4,500 rise over the previous year.

Leading the way in terms of salary were graduates in science, engineering, and math with an average of $67,000, followed by information technology at $65,000, and business and management at $60,000. The success stories of graduates further showcased the value of their education at UW-Stout.

For example, Ben Larson, a supply chain management graduate, secured a position as a supply chain analyst at Andersen in Menomonie before even graduating. Larson emphasized the importance of internships in enhancing his skills, stating, "They helped me harness soft skills I would not have likely learned in the classroom."

Another graduate, Willa Rodencal, who graduated in December 2022 from the fashion design and development program, landed a job at Gap in San Francisco before completing her degree. Reflecting on her internship experience, Rodencal expressed her preparedness for the role, crediting her education at UW-Stout.

Similarly, Matthew Ryan, a computer and electrical engineering graduate, was hired as a software engineer at United Launch Alliance in Colorado after interning at the company. Devin Dumke, another engineering graduate, also found success as a software engineer at Rice Lake Weighing Systems before graduating.

The success of UW-Stout graduates extends beyond individual achievements, with the university maintaining a remarkable 99% employment rate among its graduates. The employment opportunities for UW-Stout graduates span a wide range of leading national companies, including Fortune 500 companies like 3M, Mayo Clinic, and Target.

The continuous growth in average starting salaries and employment rates solidifies UW-Stout's position as a top university for graduate outcomes, emphasizing the value of a polytechnic education. The university's focus on career success and industry collaboration further underscores its commitment to preparing students for the workforce.
