City of Hudson issued the following announcement on Oct. 15
To Learn More About the City of Hudson’s Proposed Transportation Utility and/or Wheel Tax
The City of Hudson is considering adopting a transportation utility or wheel tax to help fund additional future infrastructure maintenance and reconstruction projects. The City will be hosting some informational meetings in the near future to help explain the need for additional funding for our City’s infrastructure, what a transportation utility and wheel tax are, how they are calculated, and other questions you may have. The City will be hosting four meetings focused on people who live in the City and those who own residential properties on the following dates at the locations shown:
Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 – 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Hudson Fire Station (2121 Ward Avenue)
Tuesday, October 26th, 2021 – 6:00 to 8:00pm at Hudson High School (1501 Vine Street)
Wednesday, October 27th, 2021 – 6:00 to 8:00pm at Willow River Elementary School (1118 4th Street)
Thursday, November 4th, 2021 – 6:00 to 8:00pm via Zoom (Zoom sign-in details to be posted at www.hudsonwi.gov/tuwt 7 days in advance)
Residents and those who own residential properties are invited to attend any of these meetings regardless of where in the City they live or own property.
The City is also hosting a few meetings focused on impacts to commercial and other businesses in the City. If you are a business owner or own commercial property in the City, you are invited to attend one of the following meetings:
Thursday, October 28th, 2021 – 9:00 to 11:00am at Hudson City Hall (505 Third Street) – meeting focused on downtown and other small businesses
Tuesday, November 9th, 2021 – 9:00 to 11:00am at the Hudson Fire Station (2121 Ward Avenue) – focused on “hill” commercial area businesses
Wednesday, November 10th, 2021 – 9:00 to 11:00am via Zoom (Zoom sign-in details to be posted at www.hudsonwi.gov/tuwt 7 days in advance)
A formal public hearing is also scheduled at the Hudson City Council meeting on Monday, November 15th, 2021 beginning at 7:00pm.
The City has put together some frequently asked questions regarding what a transportation utility and wheel tax are, how they are calculated and billed, why we are even considering these, and other questions.
