Augsburg University defeated the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team 1-0 on Wednesday at Edor Nelson Field in Minneapolis. The game marked a matchup between two nationally ranked teams, with Augsburg holding the seventh spot and UW-Eau Claire ranked eighteenth.

The Blugolds created more scoring opportunities than their opponents, outshooting Augsburg 13-9 over the course of the match. However, they were unable to convert any chances into goals. In the first half, goalkeeper Charlie Mroz made several saves to keep the score even. Offensive players Noah Malcook and Carson Kowalski both tested Augsburg's defense early, but their shots were stopped by Augsburg’s goalkeeper.

The opening period ended in a scoreless draw despite multiple fouls committed by Augsburg and continued pressure from UW-Eau Claire’s offense.

Augsburg scored what would be the only goal of the match just after halftime in the 46th minute. The Blugolds responded with increased offensive efforts, including three shots from Malcook that were all saved. Alek Laroi had an attempt in the 62nd minute and Aiden Judickas took a late shot in the 87th minute, but neither found success.

Malcook led UW-Eau Claire with five total shots—three on target—while Judickas contributed two shots on goal. Sean Redmond also registered a shot on target for the team. Mroz played all 90 minutes as goalkeeper and recorded two saves.

Following this result, UW-Eau Claire’s season record stands at 2-1-1 while Augsburg remains undefeated at 6-0-0.

UW-Eau Claire will return home for its next match against Elmhurst University on Saturday, September 13 at Simpson Field with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
