The Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents has approved promotions and tenure for nine faculty members at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, effective for the 2025-26 academic year.

The faculty receiving promotions to professor are Kenan Baltaci from engineering and technology, and Scott Turner from mathematics, statistics and computer science. Kenneth Mullins from business was promoted to associate professor. The following were promoted to associate professor with tenure: Morgan Barrie in visual and performing arts; Heather Hessel in counseling, rehabilitation and human services; Dana Linnell in psychology; Xiaojing Liu in engineering and technology; and Michael Tetzlaff in mathematics, statistics and computer science. Jay Jones from hospitality and technology innovation received tenure.

Provost Glendalí Rodríguez, vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, commented on the achievements. “The start of the academic year is a great time to recognize the faculty for their accomplishments; it provides positive energy to jumpstart the year,” Rodríguez said. “I am inspired by the faculty’s hard work and dedication to students. As well as their commitment to our polytechnic tenets — applied learning and research, business and industry collaboration and career-focused educational experiences. Tenure and/or promotion are critical milestones and I look forward to honoring them.”

The 2025-26 academic year at UW-Stout began on August 18, with Opening Day activities held on August 25. Classes are scheduled to begin on September 3. In fall 2024, UW-Stout reported having 221 faculty members along with 179 instructional academic staff.
