Three seniors from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire have been recognized as the Male Athletes of the Year for 2024-25. Nathan Donovan, Yakob Ekoue, and Jared Stricker have shared this honor due to their outstanding performances in their respective sports.
Nathan Donovan excelled in men's soccer, becoming the first player in program history to be named United Soccer Coaches Division III National Player of the Year. He led NCAA men's college soccer in scoring with 26 goals and set new single-season records for UW-Eau Claire with 67 points. His achievements helped his team win WIAC championships and qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
Yakob Ekoue was honored as U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's NCAA Division III Field Athlete of the Year for a second time. He won his second national championship in discus at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships, contributing significantly to his team's performance as national runner-up.
Jared Stricker repeated as UW-Eau Claire Male Athlete of the Year after becoming a two-time national champion in wrestling. He finished an unbeaten season with a record of 43-0, earning him recognition as WIAC Wrestler of the Year and Most Outstanding Wrestler at the NCAA Championships.
These athletes' accomplishments reflect their dedication and skill across different sports disciplines during their collegiate careers.
