University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has announced the addition of Jack Wagner to its wrestling coaching staff. Wagner, who joins as an assistant coach, brings a wealth of experience from his time in collegiate wrestling. He recently competed for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the 2022-23 season and participated in the NCAA Division I Championships, entering as the 26th seed at 125 pounds.

Wagner's collegiate career also includes four seasons at the University of Northern Iowa and one year at the University of Iowa. His high school career was notable, with three state championships in Iowa and recognition as an All-American at the 2013 Fargo Cadet and Junior National Championships.

Beyond competing, Wagner has been involved in coaching with Big Game Wrestling Club in North Liberty, Iowa, since 2014. He has also worked in business development with RILCO, Inc. after completing his studies at North Carolina.

Tim Fader, head coach of UW-Eau Claire's wrestling program, expressed enthusiasm about Wagner joining the team: "I am most excited about the experience in the sport, and the love of the sport, that Jack brings to UW-Eau Claire," he said. "He has trained under the direction of championship-level coaches and people."

The Blugolds have seen significant success recently, finishing in the top ten at NCAA Division III Championships for two consecutive seasons and consistently ranking within major national polls' top five.

Tony Ramos, Associate Head Wrestling Coach at North Carolina, commented on Wagner's transition: "I have known Jack since he was a pup in the Bettendorf program and have watched him grow as a person and athlete," Ramos said. "He came to Carolina with one year left in his college career and gave us everything he had and more."

Wagner is expected to contribute significantly to UW-Eau Claire's program by drawing from his experiences both on and off the mat.
