The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's men's and women's track and field teams competed in last-chance meets on Wednesday, aiming for national-qualifying times. The events took place at Augustana's Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier and UW-La Crosse's Final Qualifier.
In the men's 400-meter hurdles, Blake Postler and Daylan Berger made notable achievements by setting new school records. Postler completed his run in 52.04 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 52.46 seconds set earlier this season. Berger also broke the record with a time of 52.40 seconds.
Several Blugold athletes won their respective events. At Augustana, Blake Postler won the 400-meter hurdles with his record-setting time. In La Crosse, Stefan Klechefski secured victories in both the 100-meter dash (10.42 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (21.10 seconds). Yakob Ekoue excelled in discus (54.60 meters) and hammer throw (62.13 meters), while Gage Stankiewicz won the shot put event with a throw of 17.22 meters.
On the women's side at Augustana, Mya Cinnamo, McKenzie Kruse, Lauren Jex, and Kylee Grabarski clinched victory in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:45.96. At La Crosse, Lauren Dimler emerged victorious in the 400-meter hurdles clocking in at 1:01.72; Kayla Behnke won the discus event with a distance of 47.42 meters; Teagan Jones triumphed in hammer throw reaching 57.63 meters; Laura Bertrang claimed first place in javelin throwing it to a distance of 44.90 meters.
The Augustana meet concludes on Thursday where several Blugold throwers are expected to compete.
