The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team secured the WIAC Championship title for the second consecutive year, demonstrating strong performance at the tournament held in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. The event featured three teams, each with two five-player squads, and UW-Eau Claire's units took both first and second places.
Despite being an unofficial championship due to the conference not sponsoring men's golf, the competition served as a de facto title among the three full-time WIAC members with men's golf programs: UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point, and UW-Stout.
UW-Eau Claire dominated the tournament, with its top squad winning by nine strokes and its second squad finishing 20 strokes ahead of third place. The first-place team ended 8 over par across three rounds, while the second team was 17 over par.
Fred Moede from Savage, Minnesota, and Alec Sosnowski from Verona, Wisconsin shared individual medalist honors by finishing 3 under par. They led their team to victory by winning two strokes ahead of their competitors.
Nick Amtmann placed third at 1 under par, while Ben Pausha finished fifth at 3 over par. Other notable performances included Luke Taebel in eighth place at 7 over par and Spencer Lynch along with Corey Boerner tying for ninth at 8 over par. Nick Mueller took 13th place, Owen Covey tied for 14th, and Braeden Resnick finished in 19th place.
Following UW-Eau Claire were teams from UW-Stevens Point and UW-Stout. The Blugolds now await confirmation of their participation in the NCAA Championships scheduled for May 20-23 in Penfield, New York.
