The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team concluded its season with a doubleheader sweep against UW-River Falls at Carson Park on Saturday. The Blugolds secured a narrow 2-1 win in the first game, followed by a 3-2 victory in the second game, marking a high point of their season.

In Game 1, pitcher Brennan Cohen delivered eight scoreless innings for the Blugolds. Freshman Will Johnson broke the scoreless tie with a two-RBI double in the eighth inning. Although the Falcons managed to score a run in the ninth, Tyler Webb closed the game to secure the win for UW-Eau Claire. Cohen recorded three strikeouts over his eight innings.

Game 2 saw Evan Fischer take the mound, holding UW-River Falls to two runs while striking out three over 7.1 innings. Chase Watkins contributed by pitching 2.2 scoreless innings to earn the win. Logan Hesselman tied the game in the fourth inning with an RBI double. Despite a solo homer by the Falcons in the seventh that gave them a temporary lead, the Blugolds responded, with Johnson scoring to tie the game in the ninth. Freshman Carter Vieth ended the game and the season with a memorable walk-off home run in the 10th inning.

"Vieth ended the season in dramatic fashion, blasting a walk-off, solo home run in the bottom of the 10th," expressed a narrative of satisfaction from the team.

In recognition of the team's seniors, UW-Eau Claire held a ceremony to honor Jameson Bender, Cohen, Dustan Green, Cole Hinkel, Cade Mueller, Ethan Plantz, Salyers, Ben Teigland, and Carson Windeshausen on Senior Day.

The Blugolds concluded their season with a record of 11-29 overall and 4-24 in conference play, winning four of their final five games.
