The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has named Yakob Ekoue from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire as the Kwik Trip Men's Field Athlete of the Week for April 14-20. Ekoue, a senior from Hopkins, Minnesota, was chosen by a vote of WIAC head coaches.
Ekoue delivered an impressive performance at the UW-La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge on April 19, securing victories in three events and contributing to the Blugolds' first-place finish in the team standings. He won in shot put, discus, and hammer throw events. His discus throw reached a notable NCAA Division III-leading distance of 171 feet 2 inches (52.17 meters). Additionally, Ekoue's shot put throw measured 55 feet 8 1/4 inches (16.97 meters) and his hammer throw spanned 189 feet 6 inches (57.77 meters), placing him at No. 5 and No. 17 in NCAA Division III rankings, respectively.
