The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team concluded their four-game series against the top-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater by losing the final two matchups. The Blugolds were defeated 14-2 and 9-0 on Friday, which extended the Warhawks' unbeaten streak to 13 games.
In the first encounter, the Blugolds fell behind as the Warhawks scored 14 consecutive runs, which included stretches of four-run innings in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. The Blugolds finally scored in the seventh inning with a two-run home run from Junior Austin Buck.
Pitcher Draza Dupor, a sophomore, started for the Blugolds but was tagged with the loss after pitching for three innings. During his time on the mound, Dupor managed to strike out five batters while allowing two earned runs.
In the second game, the Warhawks steadily built their lead with multiple two-run innings in the early stages and further extended their advantage in the eighth inning. The Blugolds could only muster three hits throughout the game, with Freshman Will Johnson notching a double. Freshman Tapio Niemioja contributed a notable performance in relief, pitching four innings and fanning five batters while limiting the Warhawks to two runs.
