The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's wrestling team has had eight of its athletes honored as Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for the 2024-25 season. The announcement was made on Friday by the NWCA.
The recognized wrestlers are Preston Carlisle, Ryder Depies, Tristan Drier, Zak McPhee, Travis Moelter, Zach Sato, Niall Schoenfelder, and Jared Stricker. Carlisle is a junior from Red Wing, Minnesota; Depies is a sophomore from Merrill, Wisconsin; Drier is a sophomore from Cadott, Wisconsin; McPhee is a freshman from Duluth, Minnesota; Moelter is a sophomore from River Falls, Wisconsin; Sato is a senior from Oswego, Illinois; Schoenfelder is a senior from Antioch, Illinois; and Stricker is a senior from High Bridge, Wisconsin.
To achieve Scholar All-American status, wrestlers must meet specific criteria. They must have either placed in the top eight at their regional tournament or maintained a winning percentage greater than 66% across 15 matches. Academically, they need to have an average GPA of 3.2 or higher over the last two semesters or maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2.
Carlisle, Sato, and Schoenfelder are each being recognized as Scholar All-Americans for the third time. For Depies, Drier, McPhee, Moelter and Stricker this marks their first recognition with this honor.
