The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's swimming and diving teams will be represented by one athlete each at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. Molly Hosack, a junior from Cedarburg, Wisconsin, will compete for the women's team, while Blake Wallen, a sophomore from Savage, Minnesota/Prior Lake, will represent the men's team.
Hosack is set to participate in three events: the women's 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, and 1,650-yard freestyle. Wallen will compete in men's diving on both the one-meter and three-meter boards.
The competition begins with Hosack taking part in the 500-yard freestyle preliminaries on Wednesday morning. Wallen's trials for men's three-meter diving will follow shortly after. Finals for these events are scheduled for later that evening.
On Thursday's second day of competition, Hosack will swim in the 200-yard freestyle preliminaries during the morning session with finals held that night.
Wallen is slated to participate in one-meter diving trials on Friday morning with finals occurring that evening.
Hosack concludes her participation on Saturday with preliminaries for the 1,650-yard freestyle during the morning session and finals later that day.
Both athletes are making their second appearance at this championship event. Last year, Hosack finished 17th in the 500-yard freestyle and 47th in the 200-yard freestyle. She also placed 27th as part of UW-Eau Claire's relay team in the 200-yard freestyle event. Wallen secured a spot at last year's championships by finishing 21st in one-meter diving and placing 22nd on three meters.
