The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team began their match with a promising start but ultimately fell short in their attempt to upset No. 37 Hobart, losing 6-1 on Tuesday in Orlando, Florida. The Blugolds managed to secure two out of three doubles matches, initially taking the lead before entering singles play. However, the Statesmen came back strong and won all six singles matches.

Juan Gallego and Ethan Wurtzel teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles match with a score of 6-3. Meanwhile, Sam Murillo and Pablo Rincón claimed victory in the No. 2 doubles match with a close 7-6 (2) result. These wins gave the Blugolds an early advantage of 1-0 as they headed into singles competitions.

Despite these initial successes, Hobart's players dominated the singles matches to secure their overall win. Pablo Rincón was the only player from the Blugolds who managed to take a set during singles play, though he eventually lost his No. 2 match in a third-set tiebreaker with scores of 1-6, 6-3, 1-0.

Looking ahead, the Blugolds are scheduled for two more duals on Wednesday, March 19 in Orlando. They will face St. Lawrence University at 9 a.m., followed by a match against Warner University at 6 p.m.

For ongoing updates throughout the season, fans can follow the Blugolds on their official website or through social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
