The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team experienced mixed results on Tuesday in Orlando. The Blugolds secured a victory against William Smith College with a score of 5-2, marking their first win during their Florida trip. However, they were defeated by No. 23 Denison, losing 6-1.
In the match against William Smith, the Blugolds overcame a setback in doubles matches by winning five out of six singles matches to clinch the dual. Samantha Fuchs emerged victorious in the No. 1 singles match with scores of 7-5 and 6-4. Anna Lee won her No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-3. Liv Herzog claimed victory at No. 4 with scores of 6-3 and 6-4, while Reese Burton and Beatriz Felchak also contributed wins at positions No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.
Denison dominated the doubles matches against UW-Eau Claire, winning all three encounters. Aubrey Wittwer managed to secure the sole singles win for the Blugolds in this dual, finishing her match at No. 6 with scores of 6-0 and 6-3.
Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will conclude its Florida stint with two more duals on Wednesday, March 19th. They are set to face St. Lawrence at Sanlando Park in the morning and Warner University at the USTA National Campus later that evening.
