The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team faced a challenging start to their spring break trip, losing 14-5 against McDaniel College on Sunday. The game, held in Westminster, Maryland, saw the Blugolds fall behind early and struggle to recover.
McDaniel College, known as the Green Terror, established an early lead by scoring six consecutive goals. The Blugolds remained scoreless until late in the second quarter when Paige Kiani from New Brighton, Minnesota managed to score with less than three minutes remaining in the half. Despite this effort, McDaniel extended their lead with two additional goals before halftime.
In the third quarter, Jess Stiller from Evergreen, Colorado scored twice for UW-Eau Claire and Reegan Werner from Farmington, Minnesota added another goal. However, McDaniel maintained control with a 12-4 lead going into the final quarter.
Devon Crews from St. Louis contributed one more goal for UW-Eau Claire in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to close the gap significantly. The game concluded with McDaniel holding a significant advantage in shots on goal at 24-11.
Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will continue their road trip with a match against the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Eastern time in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
