Whitetail Golf Course | UW-Eau Claire Blugolds
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team has seen several of its players recognized with All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) honors for the 2024-25 season. Colin Stein, a senior from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, was named to the All-WIAC team. Stein, a defenseman, played in all 30 games this season and contributed to UW-Eau Claire achieving the best penalty killing percentage in NCAA Division III at .905. The team also ranks No. 21 nationally in scoring defense. Stein recorded one goal and 11 assists, totaling 12 points.
In addition to Stein's recognition, Max Gutjahr, Dayne Hoyord, and Connor Szmul received honorable mentions on the All-WIAC team. Gutjahr leads the WIAC with a goals-against average of 2.18 and has posted six shutouts this year while averaging 22.17 saves per game.
Hoyord, a sophomore forward from Scandinavia, Wisconsin, leads his team with 18 points this season through eight goals and ten assists. He also achieved multiple multi-assist games.
Szmul, a senior forward from Castle Rock, Colorado, is second on the team with 17 points. He has scored eight goals and provided nine assists during the winter season.
Max Dronen represents UW-Eau Claire on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team as a freshman from Moorhead, Minnesota.
The Blugolds are the only WIAC team participating in this year's NCAA Tournament. They will face Aurora University in Geneva, Illinois on Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m.
