Harriet Toth awarded Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete honor by WIAC

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Harriet Toth has been honored as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete for the 2025 gymnastics season. Toth, a senior from Regina, Saskatchewan, is majoring in behavioral analysis with a minor in family studies and maintains a 3.88 GPA.

Toth's academic achievements include being named to the 2023-24 Academic All-District At-Large Team by the College Sports Communicators and being a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. She has also frequently appeared on UW-Eau Claire's Dean's List and received academic scholarships five times.

In athletics, Toth is a two-time National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-American, having finished fifth in the all-around at the 2024 NCGA Championship after placing sixth in 2023. She was recognized as the 2024 WIAC Gymnast of the Year and NCGA Regional Athlete of the Year. Additionally, she holds her team's program record for all-around score and has contributed to several team records.

Beyond academics and athletics, Toth has been involved with various campus activities. She worked with the campus autism program as both a student program therapist and director. Her roles have included research apprentice, teacher's assistant in psychology and honors programs, recreation advisory council member, youth mentor, student assistant teacher, and building manager for McPhee Physical Education Center.

Other nominees for this year's scholar-athlete award included Marley Michaud from Gustavus Adolphus College; Julia Cheely from Hamline University; Jessica Taylor from UW-La Crosse; Delaney Cienkus from UW-Oshkosh; Effie Ferguson from UW-Stout; Kelsey Kollhoff from UW-Whitewater; and Kennedy O'Connor from Winona State University.

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman who served as Assistant Commissioner for WIAC between 1996-98. Before that role, she was Commissioner of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WWIAC) from October 1984 to September 1996. Kruckman was inducted into the WIAC Hall of Fame in 2012.

Nominees for this award must have at least a 3.50 GPA and be either in their final year of competition or set to graduate within that academic year while having competed for at least two years. The award considers academic achievements, athletic accomplishments, involvement in campus activities, organizations, and community service projects.
