UW-Eau Claire gymnasts secure sixth place at WIAC Championship

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team concluded their season with a sixth-place finish at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship/NCGA West Regional held at Mitchell Hall in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The Blugolds accumulated a total score of 189.250.

During the competition, the team achieved scores across various events: 48.075 on vault, 46.200 on uneven bars, 47.500 on balance beam, and 47.475 in floor exercise.

Ella Montgomery, a freshman from Edina, Minnesota, secured All-WIAC honors by placing third individually on the balance beam with a score of 9.775, leading her team in that event.

Sophomore Cadence Cordova from Boise, Idaho/Renaissance tied for eighth place on vault with a score of 9.750, marking the highest performance for UW-Eau Claire in that category.

Junior Ava Obermoller from Hawley, Minnesota was the top scorer for the Blugolds on uneven bars with a tally of 9.325.

In the floor exercise category, sophomore Emily Leese from Overland Park, Kansas/Blue Valley Northwest and senior Kelsey Donovan from Glen Ellyn, Illinois/Glenbard East both posted scores of 9.650 to tie for 27th place.

Sophomore Meghan Dahlin from Holland, Michigan tied for 15th place on balance beam with a score of 9.625.

Senior Harriet Toth from Regina, Saskatchewan/Martin received recognition as the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete while Kelsey Donovan was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Looking ahead, qualifiers for the NCGA National Championships will take place on March 22 in Saint Peter, Minnesota starting at 2 p.m., with announcements regarding participants expected soon.
