Reegan Werner set new program records for single-game goals and points as the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's lacrosse team triumphed over Edgewood College 25-3 on Friday. Werner, a junior from Farmington, Minnesota, scored nine goals and contributed three assists to break previous records held by Becky Goetsch since 2022.
The Blugolds began the game strongly, scoring the first 12 goals and outscoring Edgewood 10-0 in the opening quarter. The Eagles were kept scoreless for over 24 minutes. Alongside Werner's record-breaking performance, Devon Crews and Ellie Fisher each scored four goals, while Alexie Romanelli added three more.
Senior Ella Novak and sophomore Paige Kiani both contributed three points. Kiani also managed seven draw controls during the game. Alexandria Shea made six saves in goal, securing her third win of the season.
UW-Eau Claire nearly matched their program record with 26 goals and tied another with 49 shots. Fisher and Olivia Lockwood led defensively with seven ground balls each, contributing to a team total of 41.
Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will face Colorado College in their upcoming WIAC opener on Sunday at Sonnentag Fieldhouse.
