UW-Eau Claire gymnasts achieve second-best score despite loss to UW-Whitewater

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team competed against UW-Whitewater in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual, achieving the second-best team score in their program's history. Despite their efforts, they were defeated by UW-Whitewater with a final score of 193.750 to 189.575 on Saturday.

UW-Eau Claire excelled in the balance beam event, scoring 48.075. Linnea Vasali from York, Pennsylvania, led the team with a score of 9.725, tying for the fourth-highest mark in the program's history. Hareet Gehlon from Brampton, Ontario contributed a score of 9.700, while Meghan Dahlin from Holly, Michigan; Ella Montgomery from Edina, Minnesota; and Madison Daly from Las Vegas each scored 9.550.

In other events, UW-Eau Claire scored 47.400 on the vault, 47.025 on the uneven bars, and 47.075 in the floor exercise. Amy Fridley from Dickinson, North Dakota and Cadence Cordova from Boise, Idaho both achieved scores of 9.600 on the vault for their team. Cordova also recorded a top score of 9.525 on the uneven bars.

Kelsey Donovan from Glen Ellyn, Illinois led her team on the floor exercise with a score of 9.675.

The Blugolds are set to begin their postseason at the WIAC Championship on March 8 at Mitchell Hall in UW-La Crosse.
