UW-Eau Claire men win WIAC swimming title; women finish second

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's swimming and diving team secured their second consecutive title at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships held in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. This victory marks the 27th conference championship for the program.

Meanwhile, the Blugold women's team finished in second place, narrowly missing a third consecutive conference title to UW-La Crosse.

The UW-Eau Claire men's team amassed 848.50 points, winning by nearly 100 points. They achieved five individual conference titles on Saturday to secure their overall team championship.

Kadin Denner almost broke his own WIAC record in the men's 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:49.21. Adam Kamel won the men's 200-yard backstroke in 1:51.79. Zhander Rowley took first place in the men's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:01.40. Ben Keller claimed victory in the men's 200-yard butterfly, finishing at 1:52.99, while Blake Wallen won the men's three-meter diving event with a score of 495.90.

On the women's side, Molly Hosack won the women's 1,650-yard freestyle in 17:18.08. Kiara Bissen topped the women's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.98, and Elaina Plonis secured first place in the women's 200-yard butterfly at 2:05.82. The relay team consisting of Bissen, Sydney McGuine, Hosack, and Grace Schnabl triumphed in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Blugold women concluded with a total of 855 points as UW-La Crosse emerged victorious with a score of 1,018.

Looking ahead, NCAA Diving Zones are scheduled for February 28 and March 1 in Granville, Ohio.
