UW-Eau Claire falls short against No.7 ranked UW-Oshkosh

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team faced a challenging game against the No. 7 ranked UW-Oshkosh, resulting in a 64-42 defeat at Kolf Sports Center on Wednesday. Despite leading at halftime, the Blugolds were unable to hold off the Titans' strong second-half performance.

In the first half, UW-Eau Claire (8-16, 3-10) managed to take a lead into halftime with a score of 31-29. The Titans (22-2, 11-2) began the game with an early advantage, leading 8-2 before the Blugolds closed the gap to trail by only four points at the end of the first quarter. A strong second quarter saw UW-Eau Claire outscore their opponents 20-14, thanks to a key run that included contributions from Kyla Overskei and Lucia Hauge.

However, after halftime, UW-Oshkosh dominated both offensively and defensively. They outscored UW-Eau Claire 35-11 in the final two quarters and held them to low shooting percentages—13% in the third quarter and 18% in the fourth. The Titans started their second-half surge with a decisive 10-0 run.

Kyla Overskei led her team with 11 points and nine rebounds while Lucia Hauge added seven points and six rebounds. Reanna Hutchinson contributed nine points for UW-Eau Claire. Overall, they shot 30% from the field but managed to make 36% of their three-point attempts.

Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will wrap up their season against No. 24 UW-Whitewater on Saturday, February 22nd at 3 p.m.
