The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team was defeated by Bethel University, ranked No. 33 nationally, with a score of 5-2 at the Rogers Tennis Center. Despite their efforts, the Blugolds managed to secure only two singles victories.
Bethel took an early lead by winning all three doubles matches. In singles play, Samantha Fuchs from DeForest, Wisconsin, secured a win for UW-Eau Claire at No. 1 singles with scores of 6-4 and 6-0. Reese Burton from Lakeville, Minnesota/South also contributed to the Blugolds' tally with a hard-fought victory at No. 5 singles, finishing with scores of 6-1, 3-6, and 10-7.
All other singles matches were won by Bethel in straight sets.
The Blugolds are scheduled to face No. 24 Carleton on Saturday, February 22nd in Rochester, Minnesota at 3 p.m.
