The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's men's and women's track and field teams participated in the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational on Saturday at UW-La Crosse. The Blugolds excelled in the throwing events, maintaining a strong performance early in the indoor season.
Kayla Behnke, a senior from Appleton, Wisconsin, led the Blugold women by winning two throwing events. Adam Strouf, a senior from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, secured a victory in the shot put for the men.
In individual events, Behnke won the shot put with a throw of 13.38 meters and the weight throw with 18.34 meters. Strouf achieved success in the men's shot put with a throw of 17.59 meters, marking it as the second-best throw in Division III this season.
UW-Eau Claire also saw several top-three finishes: Emilee Booker placed in the women's 60-meter hurdles; Allyson Kakes competed in the women's 200-meter dash; Connor Jankuski took part in the men's 200-meter dash; Laura Bertrang was involved in the women's high jump; Wes Keller participated in the men's high jump; and Teagan Jones competed in the women's weight throw.
The next competition for UW-Eau Claire will be at the UW-Stout Quad on Friday, February 14, in Menomonie. The event is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
