McPhee Center Pool | UW-Eau Claire Blugolds
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team secured a 3-1 victory over UW-Superior on Tuesday at Siinto S. Wessman Arena. The Blugolds, ranked 14th, achieved their fourth consecutive win with Lauren Ballinger leading the charge by scoring two goals.
Ballinger initiated the scoring just 1:23 into the game, assisted by Madisyn Krumholz and Ashley Wagenbach. She extended the lead to 2-0 for UW-Eau Claire (15-6-0, 7-1-0) with a power-play goal in the second period, assisted by Quinn Hartmetz and Krumholz.
Maddie Hulter added another power-play goal early in the third period, giving the Blugolds a three-goal advantage. The Yellowjackets (9-10-2, 1-7-0) managed to score in the final seven minutes but could not complete a comeback.
Tegan Swanson made 15 saves for UW-Eau Claire, contributing to their victory. The Blugolds had a significant edge in shots on goal with a total of 29 compared to UW-Superior's 16.
Looking ahead, the Blugolds will face No. 2 UW-River Falls at home on Saturday, February 8. This important Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match will begin at 2 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Arena during Youth Day celebrations.
