The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's track and field teams showcased strong performances at the Warren Bowlus Open held at UW-Stout. Among the notable achievements was Laura Bertrang's record-setting performance in the women's high jump, where she achieved a height of 1.71 meters.
In addition to Bertrang's accomplishment, several other athletes from UW-Eau Claire secured individual event victories. For the women, Hope Schueller won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.87 seconds, Kylee Grabarski claimed first in the 400-meter dash clocking in at 59.58 seconds, and Kayla Behnke excelled in the weight throw with a distance of 18.61 meters.
On the men's side, Jack Schreiber triumphed in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.14 seconds, Harrison Cull emerged victorious in the 600-meter run finishing at 1:25.86, Jack Hesse-Withbroe took first place in the 3,000-meter run invite with a time of 8:37.26, Cole Bremmer led in the open category for the same distance clocking in at 9:16.06, and Adam Strouf dominated the shot put event reaching a mark of 17.22 meters.
Meanwhile, two Blugolds athletes participated at another meet over on the East Coast—the John Thomas Terrier Classic held in Boston. Sam Verkerke finished 26th in the men's 800-meter run while Mason Shea secured a spot as number sixty during his attempt within men’s division for running three-thousand meters; both facing competitors from various NCAA levels including Division I.
Looking ahead on their schedule—next up for UW-Eau Claire is an appearance set for Saturday February eighth where they will compete during UW-La Crosse’s Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational starting promptly by two p.m., occurring out westwards toward La Crosse.
