The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's men's and women's swimming and diving teams secured victories in their final Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) duals against UW-Whitewater on Saturday. The Blugold women achieved a decisive win with a score of 234-59, while the men won 211.5-77.5.
Key performances for the women's team included Kiara Bissen and Grace Schnabl, who each won three events. Bissen claimed victories in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard freestyle relay. Schnabl triumphed in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard medley relay, and 200-yard freestyle relay.
Ella Josephs excelled in both the one- and three-meter diving competitions, achieving an NCAA Diving Zones cut on the one-meter board with a score of 266.40. Molly Sheehan contributed to wins in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sydney McGuine was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke and participated in a winning effort for the 200-yard medley relay. Emma Vogen took first place in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle, while Melanie Witikko secured wins in the 100-yard butterfly and as part of the winning team for the 200-yard medley relay.
On the men's side, Ben Keller and Kadin Denner were instrumental with three event victories each. Keller emerged victorious in the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, and was part of a win in the 200-yard medley relay. Denner succeeded in capturing first place in the events of the 200-yard butterfly, the 200 yard IM and the 200 yard breaststroke.
Kaden Zink dominated by sweeping both the 500 yard freestyle as well as the 1 thousand yard free style . Drew Testin had wins at two different events - those being: one hundred yards back stroke plus another win coming from him during one hundred yards free style .
Blake Wallen took top honors by winning all competitions held within both categories pertaining specifically towards diving ; he swept these challenges which were conducted using either one meter boards or else ones measuring up three meters high .
Several other Blugolds also managed to secure single-event victories across both meets for men’s & women’s teams alike .
Looking ahead , next up is competition scheduled between February seventh through eighth at Minneapolis’ own “University Of Minnesota First Chance Meet” . Additionally divers plan participation during Chicago-based UIC Diving Invite slated same date — February eight .
