The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey team secured a decisive 6-0 victory over Northland College in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match on Friday at Hobbs Ice Arena. The Blugolds limited the Lumberjacks to just 10 shots, marking their second shutout of the season.
UW-Eau Claire, with a record of 3-5-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play, scored twice in the first period and added four more goals in the third to secure the win. Nolan Grier initiated the scoring with a power play goal early in the first period. Carter Bradley increased the lead five minutes later.
Entering the third period with a 2-0 lead, Jordan Randall extended it to 3-0 with 12 minutes remaining. This was followed by three more goals within an eight-minute span. Leo Bacallao scored on a power play four minutes after Randall's goal, while Cade Lemmer added another power play goal with less than five minutes left. Tyler Herzberg concluded the scoring spree with four minutes remaining.
Danny Reis and Max Ruoho each contributed two assists for UW-Eau Claire. Josh Langford earned his first win of the season as goalie, making ten saves.
Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will face three consecutive games against ranked opponents, starting with No. 10 UW-River Falls on Saturday, December 7, at Hobbs Ice Arena at 7 p.m.
