The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams began their participation in the three-day Rochester Invite on Thursday. The highlight of the opening day was Ben Keller's victory in the men's 200-yard individual medley.

Keller, a senior from Cedarburg, Wisconsin, completed the race in 1:50.82, outperforming several NCAA Division II swimmers. He was the only Blugold to win an event on this first day.

In other notable performances, Molly Hosack, a junior also from Cedarburg, Wisconsin, secured second place in the women's 500-yard freestyle. The men's team earned another second-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Additional top-four finishes included Kadin Denner and Blake Wallen. Denner, a senior from Aurora, Colorado/Cherokee Trail High School, placed fourth in the men's 500-yard freestyle. Wallen, a sophomore from Savage, Minnesota/Prior Lake High School, achieved fourth place in men's one-meter diving. The women's team also finished fourth in their 800-yard freestyle relay.

The Rochester Invite will continue through Friday and Saturday with preliminaries starting at 9:30 a.m., followed by finals at 5:30 p.m.
