Luke Krier, a senior from Mazeppa, Minnesota, has been recognized as UW-Eau Claire Athletics' Blugold of the Week, presented by BSN Sports/Nike. Krier is majoring in exercise science and has shown dedication both academically and athletically.

When asked why he chose UW-Eau Claire, Krier stated, "UWEC is a great school located in a town with lots to do. The wrestling program was on the climb when I was making my college decision as well."

Balancing life as a student-athlete can be challenging, but Krier finds a way by "finding a routine that works for you is huge, making the most out of the time you have in a day."

Reflecting on his athletic career at UW-Eau Claire, Krier expressed pride in "being apart of record breaking teams year after year, and winning a home match in the McPhee center is always fun."

Krier's preferred snacks before or after competitions include "honey stinger waffle and a celcius from kwik trip." In addition to his athletic talents, he revealed that he can play the drums.

His aspirations extend beyond sports; Krier dreams of "being the general manager of the Minnesota Twins." If given the opportunity to travel anywhere globally, he would choose "Banff, Canada." He also shared his interest in spending time with professional athletes like "David Taylor or Bo Bichette."

Krier advises current and incoming Blugold student-athletes to "spend time outside of your sport with your teammates and hold each other accountable. Learn to love the process of working hard."

Head Wrestling Coach Tim Fader spoke highly of Krier: "Luke has been a constant in our room ever since and we look forward to him competing during the 24-25 season. I think what impresses our coaching staff most about Luke is his energy for his teammates and the sport of wrestling….I believe Luke will be a great coach when he is done with his competitive career!"
