The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team secured a 5-3 win against UW-Superior on Saturday, advancing their overall record to 4-1-0. This victory also marks their second win in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), improving their conference record to 2-0-0.
Sadie Long initiated the scoring for the Blugolds in the first period, establishing a 1-0 lead. The team's momentum increased significantly during the second period when they scored four goals. Quinn Hartmetz contributed with Eau Claire's second goal, bringing the score to 2-1. Shortly after, Madisyn Krumholz extended this lead to 3-1. McKenna Sandberg added another goal, making it 4-1, and Samantha Bandholz concluded the scoring for Eau Claire with a fifth goal later in the period.
In total, eight different players from Eau Claire assisted in these goals. Tegan Swanson made an impact as well by saving 15 shots on goal.
Looking ahead, the Blugolds are set to play against No. 15 Saint Mary's University in Winona, Minnesota, on Tuesday, November 19 at 7 p.m.
