A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Tiffany regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024. The request was made by Chippewa Valley Times, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The request specifically asked for a list of voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Chippewa Valley Times believe that access to such records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we requested these records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., preferably in electronic format. We also stated our belief that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in disseminating information.
We await the response from the Town of Tiffany and will continue our efforts in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
