Simpson Field | UW-Eau Claire Blugolds
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's cross country team secured a third-place finish at the Luther Saga Cup in Decorah, Iowa, on Friday afternoon. This marks their fourth top-three finish of the season as they conclude their regular season.
The Blugolds scored 65 points to achieve third place. Wartburg College won the meet with 15 points, while UW-Stout took second place with 58 points.
Ian Barnes led the UW-Eau Claire team by finishing seventh individually, completing the race in 25:55.3. Three other members of the team finished within the top 30: Joey Thaler placed 26th with a time of 26:36.1, Jack Nelson came in 27th at 26:36.5, and Isaac Schouten was 29th with a time of 26:44.1.
Andrew Thaler completed the scoring for UW-Eau Claire by placing 32nd in a time of 26:48.5. Overall, eight Blugold runners finished within the top 50.
Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will prepare for the NCAA postseason starting with regional action at the North Regional in Northfield, Minnesota on Saturday, November 16 at noon.
