The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team has been recognized with multiple honors in the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) following an impressive season. Senior Nathan Donovan received the Kwik Trip Offensive Player of the Year award and was named the Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete, highlighting his contributions both on and off the field.
Donovan, from Hazel Green, Wisconsin, was named to the All-WIAC First Team for his performance as a senior forward, scoring 26 goals, providing 13 assists, and taking 111 shots throughout the season. Joining him on the First Team is junior Carson Kowalski from Mundelein, Illinois. As a defender, Kowalski scored five goals and provided three assists while playing 1,453 minutes.
Sophomore Noah Malcook from Fitchburg, Wisconsin also earned First Team honors as a forward with three goals and six assists. Freshman midfielder Tate McDermott from Grimes, Iowa made an immediate impact in his first season with two goals and nine assists.
Senior Jacob Sampson from McFarland, Wisconsin excelled in midfield with five assists over 1,032 minutes and earned a place on both the All-WIAC First Team and WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team for his leadership. Senior Carter Theisfeld from Forest Lake, Minnesota joined them on the First Team with two goals and 14 assists.
Additionally, goalkeeper Mark Belknap from Anoka, Minnesota received an Honorable Mention after allowing only 13 goals over 712 minutes. Sophomore defender Alek Laroi from Grayslake, Illinois also received Honorable Mention for his role in achieving a 13-1-4 record.
The Blugolds' men's soccer team aims to continue their strong performance in the WIAC Tournament semifinals at home against UW-Whitewater.
