UW-Eau Claire players receive multiple honors in WIAC women's soccer

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team has been recognized with multiple All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) honors for the 2024 season. Three players received All-WIAC First Team accolades, while two others earned honorable mentions. Additionally, Josie Ellingson was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Senior midfielder Paige Crawford from Elk River, Minnesota, was named to the All-WIAC First Team for the second consecutive year. Crawford played in every game this season, accumulating 1,489 minutes on the field. Her leadership and consistent performance were pivotal to the team's achievements.

Molly Henderson, a senior forward from Duluth, Minnesota, also received First Team honors. Henderson's offensive skills were evident as she scored six goals and provided four assists during the season. With 43 shots taken, she was a significant threat to opposing teams' defenses.

Elise Pinewski, a junior from Anoka, Minnesota, was another player honored with a spot on the First Team. As a versatile midfielder/forward, Pinewski scored four goals and had three assists over the course of the season. Her ability to create scoring opportunities contributed significantly to her recognition.

In addition to these First Team selections, Vanessa Grunwald and Sophie Hubbard earned All-WIAC Honorable Mentions. Grunwald played 1,103 minutes as a senior midfielder from Suamico, Wisconsin. Her presence in midfield was essential for maintaining team balance and success. Hubbard from De Pere, Wisconsin recorded two goals and four assists as a senior midfielder.

Josie Ellingson from Apple Valley, Minnesota was acknowledged for her exceptional sportsmanship by being named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Blugolds' women's soccer team has advanced past the first round of the WIAC Tournament and will face UW-Platteville in the semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Platteville.
