UW-Eau Claire women's soccer exits WIAC tournament after semifinal loss

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team was eliminated from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament after a 2-1 loss to UW-Platteville in the semifinals. The match took place on Thursday at Pioneer Stadium.

The Pioneers, who were seeded second, scored first with a goal in the 15th minute from a corner kick. The Blugolds, seeded third, managed to equalize in the 52nd minute when Haley Von Rentzell capitalized on a loose ball following a cross from the left wing. However, UW-Platteville regained the lead in the 62nd minute with another goal from inside the box.

Bella Jones played as goalkeeper for 45 minutes and made three saves, while Kennedy Boll also played for 45 minutes and recorded one save. Overall, UW-Platteville had more shots on goal than UW-Eau Claire, with six compared to four.

This match marked the fourth consecutive season that the Blugolds reached the WIAC Tournament semifinals. With this defeat, they are no longer in contention for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The field for this tournament will be announced on Monday, November 11.
