Lydia Jensen, a sophomore from Osseo, Wisconsin, has been named UW-Eau Claire Athletics' Blugold of the Week. Jensen is pursuing a major in English/Language Arts Teaching.

Jensen chose UW-Eau Claire for its diverse academic programs and inclusive campus community. "UW-Eau Claire offers a wide range of academic programs that match my interests, and the campus community is both supportive and very inclusive! Plus, they have the strong golf program I was looking for in a college," she stated.

In addition to her athletic commitments, Jensen participates in the University Honors Program. Balancing academics and athletics requires effective communication with coaches and professors. "Communication is key! I really make sure to keep in touch with my coaches and professors, especially during the golf season," she explained.

Reflecting on her athletic career at UW-Eau Claire, Jensen highlighted the growth of her team under new coaching staff as a proud moment. "One of my proudest moments at UW-Eau Claire was seeing our team grow with our new coaches this past season," she said.

Jensen shared some personal preferences and aspirations as well. Her favorite snack before or after competitions is pickles, and she possesses perfect pitch with a love for music. She dreams of becoming an 8th to 10th-grade ELA teacher.

If given the chance to travel anywhere, Jensen would choose Germany due to its abundance of pickles. Her choice for spending a day with a professional athlete would be golfer Adam Scott.

For current or incoming student-athletes at UW-Eau Claire, Jensen advises focusing on teamwork and enjoyment: "Build strong relationships with your teammates and coaches... Support each other through tough times... Remember to enjoy the journey."

Assistant Women's Golf Coach Jeff Walk praised Jensen's qualities: "Lydia brings determination, leadership, a passion for success, and strong golf course management skills." Teammate Bri Novak described her as selfless: "She puts others before herself... Lydia is such a good teammate because of her infectious personality."
