The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's swimming and diving teams achieved a decisive victory over UW-La Crosse in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) duals held at the McPhee Center. The men's team triumphed with a score of 210-88, while the women's team won 165-135.
Ben Keller, a senior from Cedarburg, Wis., excelled by winning three individual events: the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard butterfly, and 200-yard freestyle. Keller also contributed to the first-place finish of the 200-yard medley relay team.
Kadin Denner, a senior from Aurora, Colo., and Blake Wallen, a sophomore from Savage, Minn., each secured victories in two individual events. Denner took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley and participated in the victorious 200 medley relay. Wallen dominated both diving competitions, achieving an NCAA Zones qualifying score on the one-meter board with a score of 283.90 and winning the three-meter competition as well.
Zhander Rowley, a sophomore from Janesville, Wis., won the 100-yard breaststroke and was part of the successful 200 medley relay team. In total, seven male competitors claimed individual event wins for UW-Eau Claire.
On the women's side, Grace Schnabl from New Berlin, Wis., captured wins in both the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle events and contributed to victories in both the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay. Elaina Plonis from Macomb, Mich., won both butterfly events—the 100-yard and 200-yard categories—while Elaine Proefrock from Grafton, Wis., finished first in both distance freestyle races: the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyles.
Kiara Bissen from Madison, Wis., emerged victorious in the 200-yard breaststroke and played a role in winning the 400 freestyle relay. Sydney McGuine from Huntley, Ill., was part of two winning relays while also claiming first place in the 100-yard backstroke. Molly Sheehan from Austin, Minn., similarly contributed to two relay wins.
Both UW-Eau Claire teams now hold undefeated records of 3-0 within WIAC duals this season. Their next competition is scheduled for November 8-9 at the D3 Shootout hosted by the University of Chicago.
