Olivia McSorley, a junior from Elm Grove, Wisconsin, has been named the UW-Eau Claire Athletics' Blugold of the Week. The award is presented by BSN Sports/Nike.
McSorley is pursuing a major in Health Care Administration with a minor in Finance. She shared her reasons for choosing UW-Eau Claire: "It has a great location and is a beautiful campus."
Balancing academics and athletics can be challenging, but McSorley manages by organizing her schedule: "Some days being a student-athlete can be overwhelming, but I try to schedule out my day in a way where I have set time to get homework and studying done, while still having time to go to practice and time for myself to relax."
Her favorite snack during competitions is Airhead Extreme Bites. In addition to her athletic pursuits, McSorley revealed she can Irish dance. Her career aspiration is to become the CFO of a hospital.
If given the chance to travel anywhere, she would choose Iceland or the Maldives. As for spending time with a professional athlete or celebrity, she would pick Dave Portnoy.
Offering advice to fellow Blugold student-athletes, McSorley emphasized team spirit: "Lean into being on the team. The girls on the team are some of the best people I know."
Bri Novak from Women's Golf described McSorley as a leader who prioritizes her teammates' needs: "She goes above and beyond to make sure that everyone has what they need to play to their fullest potential." Cadie Ash also praised McSorley's loyalty and supportive nature: "Off of the course she is always there for her teammates whether they need a helping hand, someone to talk to, or someone to make them laugh."
