Blugolds fall twice to Titans, head to WIAC Championship as fifth seed

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball team concluded their regular season with a doubleheader against the 18th ranked UW-Oshkosh Titans. The Blugolds faced two defeats, losing 6-1 and 10-4.

In the first game, the Titans established an early lead with home runs in the first and third innings, resulting in a 5-0 advantage. Norah Kutnink scored Eau Claire's only run with her first collegiate home run. The Titans added another run in the seventh inning to secure their victory.

The second game began with two scoreless innings before Oshkosh took a lead with RBI singles in the third inning. Hailey Hagedorn brought UWEC onto the scoreboard, followed by Siri Springer and Miranda Gernander contributing to a temporary 3-2 lead for Eau Claire. However, Oshkosh responded with multiple runs in subsequent innings, culminating in a final score of 10-4.

The Blugolds will enter the WIAC Championship Tournament as the fifth seed and face UW-La Crosse Eagles in the first round on May 9 at UW-Oshkosh.
