The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team concluded its 2024 season with two losses against UW-La Crosse on Saturday at Carson Park. The Eagles won the first game 10-0 and secured a 6-3 victory in the second game.
In Game 1, the Blugolds managed only four hits and were unable to score, while the Eagles took control early with a three-run homer in the third inning. They extended their lead with additional runs in subsequent innings. Walter Johnson from Minnetonka, Minnesota, hit a double but could not spark a comeback for Eau Claire.
Game 2 saw improved performance from the Blugolds. After falling behind by three runs early, Connor Weik from Wauconda, Illinois, narrowed the gap with a two-run homer in the third inning. Despite further solo homers by UW-La Crosse in later innings, Eau Claire's rally attempt ended short with Drew Salyers contributing a sacrifice fly.
