The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team ended their match against Simpson College in a 2-2 draw on Sunday at Bill Buxton Stadium in Indianola, Iowa. The Blugolds, ranked 13th, led twice during the game but were unable to maintain their advantage as the Storm equalized each time.
Nathan Donovan initiated scoring for UW-Eau Claire by converting a penalty kick in the 28th minute. This marked his 16th goal of the season and fifth from a penalty. Simpson responded with an equalizer in the 42nd minute. The Blugolds regained their lead when Carson Kowalski scored in the 56th minute, assisted by Noah Malcook and Tate McDermott. However, Simpson College secured another equalizer with a final goal in the 75th minute.
UW-Eau Claire had a slight edge over Simpson with a total of 12 shots compared to seven from their opponents and led narrowly with five shots on target to four. This result extended UW-Eau Claire's unbeaten streak to four games, bringing their record to 9-1-3.
Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will host Carroll University at Simpson Field on Wednesday, October 9, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
