The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's soccer team, ranked 13th nationally, secured a dominant victory against the Dubuque University Spartans in a nonconference match held at home on Tuesday evening. The Blugolds controlled the game from start to finish, achieving their sixth consecutive home win.

Throughout the match, UW-Eau Claire maintained control, outshooting Dubuque 12 to 2. A pivotal moment occurred in the 15th minute when Dubuque hit the post. Shortly after, Alvaro Alanis scored his first collegiate goal with a half volley from 25 yards into the top left corner. Will Miers provided the primary assist for this goal, leading to a 1-0 advantage for UW-Eau Claire at halftime.

In the second half, Nathan Donovan increased the lead to 2-0 in the 54th minute by heading in a free kick from Alanis. Moments later, Carter Thiesfeld further extended the Blugold's lead with a powerful shot between the goalkeeper's legs, making it 3-0. This was Thiesfeld's second goal of the season and was assisted by Donovan and Owen Williams.

The team's defensive efforts were solidified by goalkeepers Spencer Banks and Mark Belknap, who each recorded one save and contributed to UW-Eau Claire’s fourth clean sheet of the season.

Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire (8-1-2) will begin Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play at home on Friday, October 4th against UW-Platteville. The match is scheduled to kick off at Simpson Field at 7 p.m.
