The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team commenced their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Saturday with decisive victories against UW-River Falls and UW-Stout. The Blugolds achieved sweeps in both matches, winning 9-0 in each.
Samantha Fuchs and Anna Lee secured wins in their doubles matches against the No. 1 seeds from both opposing teams, finishing with scores of 8-5 and 8-0 respectively. Reese Burton and Beatriz Felchak also participated in both doubles matches, defeating all four opponents with a score of 8-1.
In singles play, each Blugold player won their matches in straight sets, conceding only two games combined across all six matches.
The Blugolds will continue their season on the road with an upcoming match against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday, September 14. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex.
