The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced the Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the period from August 26 to September 1. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team's Johanna Thompson has been named the women's soccer offensive player of the week by an anonymous vote of WIAC head coaches.
Thompson, a freshman from Green Bay, Wisconsin, made an immediate impact for the Blugolds in her first NCAA competition with a brace against the College of Saint Benedict on August 30. Her goals both came off headers from lofted crosses from the sidelines in a 2-0 season-opening victory.
