University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Athletic Director Jason Verdugo was voted in as the NCAA's Division III Management Council's chair last week.

"I am honored and privileged to be chosen as chair. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with the dedicated NCAA staff and my talented fellow council members," Verdugo said. "As the Athletics landscape evolves, I am confident that we will strive to prioritize student-athletes and act in the best interest of our membership. Additionally, I'm grateful to represent UW-Eau Claire and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference."

The Management Council is comprised of 23 members that include athletic directors, presidents/chancellors, faculty athletic representatives, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee members, and other Division III personnel.

The Management Council reports directly to the Presidents Council and handles the implementation of policies adopted by the Association's Board of Governors and Division III Presidents Council. The Management Council may sponsor legislative proposals; make interpretations of Division III's bylaws; and may also handle resolution of Division III issues and recommendations from other committees and working groups throughout the Division's substructure.
